There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love.

For he who despises wisdom and instruction is doomed.  Vain is their hope, fruitless are their labors, and worthless are their works.  Their wives are foolish and their children wicked; accursed is their brood.

Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have drawn a defense against your foes, to silence enemy and avenger.

“Salt is good, but if salt itself loses its taste, with what can its flavor be restored?  It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.  Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.”

Before investigating, find no fault; examine first, then criticize.  Before hearing, answer not, and interrupt no one in the middle of his speech.

Let your acquaintances be many, but one in a thousand your confidant.
