For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe!  plans to give you a future full of hope.

Because you are haughty of heart, you say, “A god am I!  I occupy a godly throne in the heart of the sea!” – And yet you are a man, and not a god, however you may think yourself like a god.

You shall keep away from anything dishonest.

Like an infected tooth or an unsteady foot is [dependence on] a faithless man in time of trouble. 

When he rises up, the mighty are afraid; the waves of the sea fall back.  Should the sword reach him, it will not avail; nor will the spear, nor the dart, nor the javelin.  He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. 

Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.  All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.  With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.

“Learn then that I, I alone, am God, and there is no god beside me. It is I who bring both death and life, I who inflict wounds and heal them, and from my hand there is no rescue.”

…For she teaches moderation and prudence, justice and fortitude, and nothing in life is more useful for men than these.

Quarrel not with a man without cause, with one who has done you no harm.

In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters.  Then God Said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.  God saw how good the light was.  God then separated the light from the darkness.
