For our lifetime is the passing of a shadow; and our dying cannot be deferred because it is fixed with a seal; and no one returns.  Come, therefore, let us enjoy the good things that are real, and use the freshness of creation avidly.

The one who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”  Then he said, “Write these words down, for they are trustworthy and true.”  He said to me, “They are accomplished.  I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.  To the thirsty I will give a gift from the spring of life-giving water.  The victor will inherit these gifts, and I shall be his God, and he will be my son.  But as for cowards, the unfaithful, the depraved, murderers, the unchaste, sorcerers, idol-worshipers, and deceivers of every sort, their lot is in the burning pool of fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.”  I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.  Therefore, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.

For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.

Not that I say this because of need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I find myself, to be self-sufficient.  I know indeed how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance.  In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need.  I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me.

…Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.

Rise, then, for this is your duty!  We will stand by you, so have courage and take action!”

“The LORD will beat down before you the enemies that rise up against you; though they come out against you from but one direction, they will flee before you in seven.

Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do.
